4th Backpackers Contest August 2025

16 stations submitted entries (together with two checklogs) for this, the penultimate event in the series, three more than last month.

Unlike last month, this event was blessed with pleasant summer weather.  Unfortunately, propagation was not so benign and, despite 29 stations from 7 DXCCs outside of the UK (DL, EA, EI, F, ON, OZ and PA) appearing in the logs, there was only three ODX's greater than 500km, the best being GS4AAF/P with GW1YBB/P at a distance of 553km.

In the 5B section, Steve GW1YBB/P, having already secured his series' win, kindly elected to submit a checklog this time and thus allowed others to move up the overall rankings.  Lea, M0XPO/P topped the Backpackers section for the first time this year thus increasing the chances for a final podium place.

In the Hilltoppers', Martin, G4GFI recorded his third win of the series and thus cemented his claim for victory when the final results are published next month.

Overall, the number of participants at this stage of the series is 34, nine fewer than last year so it would be good to increase the turnout at the final event on Sunday 7th September commencing at 1100 UTC.
