50 MHz AFS Contest

This year's event attracted 75 entries, slightly fewer than last year and well below the 5-year average of 95.  This was a pity not least because those that participated were treated to an excellent Sporadic-E opening to Southern Europe with no less than 53 Italian callsigns appearing in the logs.  Not surprisingly, this resulted in record performances i.e.

The best ODX was between EI8KN and 9H1TX at a distance of 2496 kilometres.

50% of entrants (37) recorded an ODX of over 2000 km.

G7RAU, the winner of the Single Operator Fixed section for the first time, scored more than 5 million points with four others exceeding 2 million.

The only downside of the focus on Europe was that beams were generally pointed in a southerly direction and, as always, not everyone was well situated to take advantage of the conditions.

Congratulations to all the certificate winners listed below.  As far as Club performances are concerned, the awarded certificates don't tell the whole story, however.  The current format of separating the clubs into Local and General categories started in 2019.  Since then, the Camb-Hams 'A' team have never been beaten in the former section, and for Addiscombe ARC 'A' team, this was their third consecutive triumph in the General Club section.
