RECENT RESULTS (by Quin G3WRR & John G3XDY) The following results have been published or updated since
the previous Newsletter:
50MHz UKAC
A number of changes of personnel wihin the CC are afoot, as follows:
The CC would like to record its thanks to those departing for their efforts over a number of years, and to welcome those who have signed up for a further spell. NEW RECORD IN 80m CC! (by Quin G3WRR) A new record has been established in the recent SSB leg of the 80m CC series. This is for the largest number of stations entered in one contest by a single club. The honours go to the Norfolk Amateur Radio Club, who got the 2014 season off to a cracking start by fielding no less than 31 stations in the 3 February event. Would any club care to challenge that?! REGISTRATION OF VIRTUAL MEETING PLACES (VMPs) (by Quin G3WRR) The December 2013 issue of the Newsletter introduced the concept of Virtual Meeting Places (VMPs) for clubs entering a range of RSGB contests. Club officers registering VMPs for clubs which are intending to enter the Local Club category of the 80m Club Championship and Sprint series should note that this fact needs to be included in the registration information. Further details are given in http://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/afsinfo.shtml.
Readers may wish to note that the URL for the website for the Minos VHF / UHF logging program has recently changed. It can now be
found at http://minos.sourceforge.net.
Readers are reminded that it is RSGB policy (which the CC fully endorses) that the bandplans should be complied with. A
number of instances of non compliance were noted in the recent 144MHz UKAC, resulting in an expression of concern from the
Society's VHF Manager. The specific issues of 2m are covered in the write-up of that contest, but don't forget that this
principle applies to all RSGB contests!
Readers are reminded that registration for VHF NFD opens in April - and registration for HF NFD is already open, with several entrants already "in the book". Well, my plea in last month's Newsletter for good 10m conditions in BERU was answered, and yesterday afternoon W1AW/5 in New Mexico (I think - wasn't really concentrating) was thumping in on 6ft of wire while I was trying to track down sources of electrical noise in the shack. Long may it (10m conditions, not the electrical noise) continue.... That’s all for this month - good contesting.
