UK Microwave Group
The following UK Microwave Group contests take place this June:
Sunday | 7th June 2015 | UK Microwave Group 1.3/2.3/3.4 GHz Contest | 0800 - 1400 UTC |
Sunday | 21st June 2015 | UK Microwave Group 24/47 GHz Contest | 0900 - 1700 UTC |

In addition to the Summer Marathon, the UKSMG also organises a 24-hour Summer Contest each year, the aim of which is to work as many stations as possible in the
chosen 24-hour period. In 2015, the contest starts on Saturday 6th June at 1300 UTC and finishes on Sunday 7th June at 1300 UTC. This weekend is shared with
IARU Region 1 co-ordinated HF CW Field Days across Europe, and is an ideal opportunity to put a Six Metre station on and join in the Summer Contest to give
operators experience of the Magic Band. The rules can be found here .

CHAIRMAN'S CORNER (by Ian G0FCT)
As part of the continuing initiative to consult with the contesting community over topics of mutual interest, the Contest Committee has published the
2015 White Paper. This document contains 36 proposals and suggestions for changes to the RSGB contest rules for 2016. The White Paper is available from
the RSGB Contest Committee website at www.rsgbcc.org/whitepaper2015.pdf or by clicking on this link.
Comments on any of the proposals and suggestions are invited. All comments will be reviewed by the RSGB Contest Committee and the revised rules
for all RSGB contests will be published no later than the end of November - earlier if possible. The revised rules will take effect on 1st January
2016.
The proposals contained in the 2015 White Paper are also subject to change depending on the outcome of the President's Review on Contesting.
However, please do not delay in sending in your comments because the outcome of the Review may not be known by the closing date of this consultation.
Please send your comments to committee@rsgbcc.org no later than 7th August 2015.
BEWARE OF TICKS! (by Quin G3WRR)
The CC has been notified that the Chairman of Maidstone YMCA ARS / Capel Battery CG was recently hospitalised for a significant period with a swollen leg following a visit to their Field Day site near Folkestone. It has been confirmed that this was caused by Lyme's Disease, almost certainly resulting from a tick bite: apparently ticks from the European mainland, which are suspect, are prevalent in SE coastal regions at present. While this may be a problem that is most serious in these areas, it is certainly a matter that any group operating portable may wish to bear in mind. In wishing their Chairman a speedy recovery, thanks are also due to Ian 2E0IJH for drawing this to the CC's attention.
A bit of a thin Newsletter this month - and a little bit later than usual. This is because the regular CC contributors have been heavily
involved with the President's Review of RSGB contesting.
I hope to work many of you (either as individuals or part of a club team) in HF NFD in a week or so....meanwhile good contesting to you all!
73, Quin G3WRR
