Club Calls Contest 2003 Many previous class B, Novice and new M3 Operators obtained contacts throughout the UK. Helped by good propagation conditions, their presence welcomed by all made the contest lively for the whole period. One third of logs submitted were on paper, reflecting some Clubs encouragement to members to have a go from home, perhaps for the first time, to support the Club and join in the fun. Members should be asked though, to try and make a few contacts and thereby ensure they become valid by appearing in more than one submitted log. Club names with some initials recorded like Cambridge UWS were accepted from all logs, whilst remembering the rules require the full name should be sent without initials. Congratulations to the leading Club, Cambridge University Wireless Society GX6UW for winning the Ariel Trophy award and certificate of merit. Certificates of merit are also awarded to the leading individual club member Thomas Cannon G0VQR from Reading and District ARC and the leading non club member Russell Baker G4ZRZ. The David Hill G4IQM Memorial Trophy is awarded to the Hadley Wood Contest Group. Mike Thayne, G3GMS. # Ariel Trophy. Club Calls Contest 2003 - Soapbox G0RGH Great fun and busier this year. Conditions fair given solar activity recently. G0SHC Very enjoyable contest. High noise levels. G0VDZ Should move start 1 hour earlier then we can go to the pub and not miss the end of the contest. G0VQR Great fun It would be great if there was a contest logger that could cater for this contest. G3RWL Rules should allow club abbreviations such as ARC, ARS, CG, RC, etc G3SWC Several stations from the same club sent slightly different club info. G3WAS Good conditions with lots of activity. Unfortunately, our spotting Rx 'died' just before the contest. G3YAJ Very noisy. G3YEC Nice Contest but why not give all Clubs an abbreviated number/name. This would make it a lot easier to log. G4ADV Enjoyable contest. G4EZT Had to attend firework party for first hour 2100 start would be better. Band full. G4VTO Only had limited time available to participate but good fun. G5RR A brisk and most enjoyable contest. We look forward to participating in 2004. G5XV Great fun. Used as a training contest for our newcomers. One W called right at the end but overran so not counted. GC4CC Superb fun. Loads of UK activity but no EU. A big welcome to the ex-class B operators they made all the difference in activity levels. 3 hours was barely enough time to work everything. GX4NOK Great fun and good for the new M3's that we had on. Enjoyed it all as usuall. GX7EAR Please reduce the club info exchanged to 5 characters. M0COP Oh for an easy logging program that would take the full club name. M5ARC Another good year fun had by all with the band
being a little noisy but we managed to pick some really
weak stations out. |
