2nd 1.8 MHz Contest 2005.
81 logs were received for the second top band contest
of 2005. This is an increase of more than 19 percent
over last year and is very pleasing indeed. I received
one paper log direct to my home address (how did LA8WG
know that?) Three of the top four UK stations were operating
on the fringes of the UK which says something about
the propagation. There are also two entries from Siberia
and one from Newfoundland.
Martin Platt G4XUM operator at GD0EMG wins the Victor
Desmond Trophy for leading UK station with 1104 points
followed closely by Gavin Taylor GM0GAV with 1091 and
Don Beattie with 998. Worthy of note is the error-free
log of Dave Lawley G4BUO in 198 QSOs. The overseas section
was won by Paul O'Kane EI5DI. Gedas LY3BA, a past winner
of this section, was second and Nico PA0MIR, third.
Winner of the Maitland trophy for best Scottish entrant
over the two contests in 2005 is myself GM4SID, the
only GM station to enter both contests.
Thank you for taking part, I hope you enjoyed the contest.
Sid Will, GM4SID.
