Adjudicator's report. 85 logs and 2 checklogs were received for the contest
this year. Two
paper logs were received from overseas.
All others were electronic logs received via the
internet and all within the one month allowed. 13
of the overseas and 35 of the UK electronic logs used
SD. 8 used Writelog and 3 used N1MM. Many of the entrants commented on very good conditions
on the band and this was backed up by more
transantlantic contacts than normal.
One log from Eastern Siberia,
One from Ontario and another from a DXpedition
station in Algeria were received.
More duplicate QSOs were logged than in previous
events, indicating that operators are beginning to
realise that it usually takes less time to work and log
a 'dupe' than advising the other station that wou have
worked before. Because
the cabrillo log format has no provision for indicating
duplicate QSOs, it follows that we adjudicators can not
apply penalties for 'unmarked dupes'.
More than one entrant logged non-existent Post
Codes and lost points which would have been saved had
they used the SD software which checks for valid codes
on the run. Clive Penna GM3POI won the contest and two trophies.
The Victor Desmond Trophy for leading U.K.
entrant and the Maitland Trophy for leading GM entrant
over the two 1.8 MHz contests in 2006.
Justin Snow G4TSH/P, operating in the Ipswich
Postal Area, came second and Gavin Taylor GM0GAV came
third just five points behind Justin. The Overseas section winner is Dennis Andrews F5VHY
with a creditable error free log. Second was Paul O'Kane
EI5DI and third was Stavko Celerc S57DX.
Congratulations to the trophy and certificate winners
and thanks to them and all other competitors for
participating. I hope you enjoyed the contest and that
you will take part in future events. Sid Will, GM4SID |
