GC4CC Retyped from paper log & hope we managed ok. Very good contest, well supported and we used it to train some newer calls. For next year must get our logging programme to work with Club Calls contest! GJ3DVC Pleasantly surprised to be able to amass a high QSO total, given the difficulty we've had in the past. Raising the dipole from 35 to 70 feet probably made the difference. Low QRM but S9+ static early on. GW3KDB Sorry abt paper log PC gone bang GX3GWB/P Heard nothing further north than Cumbria. GX3ULT/P We had a great time in the contest. Very hard going at times. It was Steve's first time and Dan is very interested in contesting. He uses G3ULT under supervision when he can. See you next year. GX3VER Thoroughly enjoyable contest which created a good deal of club interest. GX3WAS Typing in the whole exchange takes forever. Not all members of a club give the same name for their club! I logged what was sent. GX4NOK Very good contest with lots of new calls no qrn and all signals were readable. |
Club Calls Contest 2006 Good band conditions were enjoyed by most taking part this year. Many clubs had numerous new members operating their club stations, taking the opportunity for learning all about contesting from experienced operators. Some impressive antennas were in use by a few stations but others with more modest antennas also managed to achieve good results.Phil Daniells GJ4CBQ operating the Jersey ARS club station GJ3DVC just managed to keep ahead of other club stations to win the Ariel Trophy and certificate of merit for leading club station. Peter Hobbs G3LET from Horsham ARC is awarded the leading individual club member certificate of merit and Des Wood G3HKO is also awarded a certificate of merit for the leading individual non club member. Members of the Hadley Wood Contest Group worked well together as a team, with 4 of the 5 members operating their own portable stations, to win the David Hill G4IQM Memorial Trophy Mike Thayne G3GMS
SOAPBOX: G0IDA/PN1MM Logger, single malt to keep me warm in the field. G0KPW Good fun and conditions pretty good for a change. Thanks to all that were patient when in the noise. G0LHZ Hard going in the last hour G0MTN Club details logged as they were sent to me. 59++++ noise locally since strange box of wires was half-installed on front of neighbour’s house pending some form of broadband internet connection. G0OOD First attempt at a contest and found it fun although the exchange is difficult. My limited 30w and antenna did quite well. G0RAF Full wave delta loop for top band G0RGH Less European activity than usual. Conditions worsened as the contest went on. Enjoyable as ever. G0SHC Very enjoyable contest, I haven't taken part for a couple of years. There didn't seem to be as many stations active as in past years. G0WRS/P Condx quite good - Enjoyable contest G3HKO First attempt at an SSB event for years. 5 watts to endfed wire. All good fun. Thanks G3LET Pretty dismal last hour - regretted not keeping up a dupe sheet but SSB operation is just too difficult! I'd vote for keeping the exchange as it is - good practice for copying under difficult conditions. G3SAD/P Good conditions, lots of stations G3TKF Why can't all the members of a club agree what they are going to call themselves before the contest starts? This part of the contest rule needs changing. G3YEC Most signals good and clear but still one or two huge. G3ZBU A thoroughly enjoyable contest where it is pleasant to stop briefly and give ones regards to operators that normally use CW! G4AHG/P Nice well behaved contest - members don’t know their clubs name ! G4ALE Nice to work a few well known clubs !! G4FAL First time in this contest G4FBS Inconsistency in the information given by some club stations from one QSO to the next! G4FRS Where were all the GM,GW,GI etc stations? G4HSO A few problems with logging - esp at start. My first time in this contest - I hope to be back! G4RCD My first attempt at the Club Calls Contest. Conditions seemed reasonable but some deep QSB. Noise levels low. G4SJX An excellent contest. Still not much local activity! Will be back in 2007. G4SLE Good to hr so many on air. Conditions fair in this qth G4WBV Nice enjoyable contest yet again G5XV/P At G3LLK's QTH using Dipole up 50ft. A nice comparatively quiet QTH in the country. M0BPQ/P Generator refused to start, so had to dash home for inverter to run PC logging. Operated from the back of my car and luckily the wx was ok. M0COP Logged with SD using RSGB CC template all details entered in comments field and log edited Post Contest. M0NBG First time in this contest found the logging a challenge, was good fun hope to do better next year. M0WYB First attempt at a real contest! M1EBV Great fun. Very nice to have top band buzzing with activity for a change. One day we might organise giving all club numbers instead of the variable club names. Some contesters sending a variety of names as usual.
