TROPHIES (*) Marconi Trophy - Leading
single-operator individual station Edgware Trophy - Leading team. CHECKLOGS: DJ1YFK, DK3UZ, G3GUL, G3UEG, LY3BA, MU0FAL SOAPBOX:2E0KOP Suffered with clix a lot. had great fun G0ADH Still my favourite G0EFO Lots of QRN. Mostly well mannered operators G0EYR Band conditions good G0GFQ My longest CW contest so far, really did show how limited my antenna is!! But at least I had a go which is the main thing and I enjoyed myself. The first entry in the AFS-CW by the Bittern DXers. G0IBN enjoyable day as always G0IDA enjoyed it very much G0MTN My contesting is slowly being squeezed out by other commitments ! G0OPB A few deliberate QRMers and stealing of other stn calls(not very sporting)... Good fun but I still need more practice! G0PSE Cndx unusually good G0RPX Had a bad start; senior moment. I was QRS. Every year contestants seem to get faster but I get slower. G0THY My annual outing onto CW G0VQR The first 2 hours were fantastic then deliberate QRM made me QSY. Very slow and hard going after that. 250 hertz filter was a big help. G0WAT Having not had an aerial up at this QTH for a while I did not realise that BR were working on the railway behind my house...S9+60db noise!!!...I couldn't hear a chuffing thing!...shamefaced to say I gave up...sorry! G0WBC Very enjoyable but maybe not good for the blood pressure??? G0WHO Late starting because of problems with tuner G0WWD Band conditions were very good .Plenty of activity G1KAR Low score due to very local QRM (talk) in club shack ! G2JL "CFM" short for "R" ? Glad to hear RST omitted, often G3GJX Had a good time. Our antenna a real compromise! G3GLL The usual scramble for the first hour or so then a bit slow! Conditions generally good G3HEJ very good ..First time use of computer & SD,but made some 'start-up' errors! G3HKO Good conditions. Good support and good fun. 5w to G5RV. Thanks to all G3IZD Band noisy and full of buzzes initially but improved later. New rig coped well with big signals G3JRM band conditions seemed good this year though not reflected in the score. like the old school reports "must try harder". cu all next year G3LET Enjoyable as always. Quite a few new faces - not all recent licensees. Last hour was pretty grim. G3LHJ Great contest with very good condx - plenty of activity. Top half of the band was well used by the QRS gang - good to hear G3LIK A few stations need to get on QRG seems they had RIT in. One or two with big key clicks no doubt running an amplifier. Always nice to work a lot of friends. Conditions were good today. G3OLB Conditions good. Amplifier blew up at 1630 - barefoot from then on. G3PDH Nice to start the new year with CW AFS. Very enjoyable although I did wonder whether there were less people on. Maybe 3 hours would be long enough? G3PSM Couldn't get it together this time around although I worked everything I heard. G3RFH Conditions did not seem to be very good G3RVM Started well but couldn't hear much for the last 90mins. Neighbour switched his TV on causing my noise level level to increase to S9. G3RWL Time for a rule change regarding team numbers. 5 on CW and 3 on SSB ain't fair any more. Or maybe shorten the contest to three hours G3SJJ Activity seemed down. I suffered delliberate QRM in the fisrt 30 minutes by someone who kept calling me with different callsigns and then CQing on top of me. I went S&P but still managed 97 in the first hour. G3SVD This was my first attempt at AFS-CW but unfortuantely family commitments only allowed me 90 mins to particpate. I was quite pleased with my 45 qsos in that time. I have preplanned my time to be available for the full four hours of AFS-SSB! G3SVL Activity seemed a bit down this year - like I managed to keep a run frequency for nearly 3 hours without being pushed off! Propagation to GM from Sussex Coast was good right from the start - that's unusual. G3SVW Conditions not at their best. Not as many continental stations as usual. Electrical noise pollution gets worse. G3SWH This contest is about an hour too long! G3SXW Running 10W - QRP. Good fun S&P'ing. G3TBK Did not sound as busy as usual G3TXF CQ'ed solidly for four hours on 3537kHz. Nice to hear many familiar callsigns, as well as several new ones. Maybe the 80m CC's have given some new contesters the confidence to take part in AFS-CW. G3UFY Noisy at times with deep QSB, but band held up to the very end! G3UJE Very late start here - will try to make it on-time next year! G3VIP Slow start, struggle with low power, fault with PSU G3VQO less activity than usual? I actually found clear spots to call CQ - unheard of!!! G3VYI Condx slow at start but kept open to G in the last hour so unusual! G3WNI Good Conditions G3XON Phew! Hard work! G3YAJ Enjoyable G3YEC Oh what a lovely AFS this year - NO noise !! Getting too old these days for 80 odd an hour. Still very nice meet and greet old friends. Maybe it was the aerial but I worked a lot of GM stations from the word go. See you next year. G3YHV Good contest again G3YIQ Very strong G signals right through into the evening. G3YMC Usual fun on QRP. Plenty of activity as usual but activity perhaps down this year. I had no problems finding a quiet frequency... G3ZGC/P A 9A station kept asking me to QSY DX! G4ALE Hard work but enjoyable, as usual. QSOs seemed to come in waves, with a couple of minutes with no QSOs followed by a rush, then another gap...odd! G4ARN/P Great fun, enjoyed very much G4BJM Noisy. Activity a bit down. Good fun G4BUO Equalled last year's total for the first hour, but it was all downhill after that! At least Cray Valley mustered a full team this time G4CKH Not a big contester really but set myself up with SD Winkey and Cat for the first time and once i'd got used to things had a ball. Unfortunatley had to walk the dogs so missed one and a half hours of operating. Looking forward to the next RSGB short contest. G4CZB Struggled with the QRM this year - think the old Corsair not up to the job any more! G4DBL Slow-ish start; have the northerners done significantly better this year? G4DDX I like the move to later in Jan Conditions seemed better. Most enjoyable and was able to increase my score. G4DJX Very slow towards end of contest. High noise level at this QTH. Great fun as always G4EBK Better than expected after checking the band earlier in the week but last two hours poor. G4ELZ Suffered S8 local QRM making very hard going. Apologies to those that called me and I did'nt hear u G4FBS Good to hear the activity G4FKA Main aim was to beat last years total and did it with 30 mins to spare. Reasonable conditions. Slowest in last half hour as the skip lengthened. G4FNL Nice to work 3 x 5B4 stations! Hard going in last hour. I need to improve my use of SO2R - just can't keep the run going on one VFO and S&P on the other G4HHJ My first semi-serious attempt at an HF CW contest from home. Many thanks to all stations who struggled to read my very un-practiced sending. G4IYC first contest G4KEW Good fun but I didn't do so well this year G4LWB Enjoyable frenetic at times well mannered G4RCD Held a frequency throughout, apart from a quick search for last few minutes. Very enjoyable, and an improvement on last year's effort! Need to try and get more club members on though! G4SLE Another good afs and thanks to all for qsos G4WGE Double last year! G8CUL CW is not my forte - but it was fun! GM0ELP Enjoyed the contest. Very quiet at the start with only GMs audible. Each passing hour the Q rate got better. Lots of G3 coming through well. It got dark here at 16:45 GM3JKS Same station, same op, same strategy poorer result than last year! GM3SEK This was my first AFS since moving from southern England - and a very different experience. Despite being very nearly the most southerly station in Scotland (south of Carlisle, even) it was still very hard to get rolling until the skip started to lengthen. Finished with 227 + 4 dupes, and a lot of new lessons learned on the way. Bring on the Club contests! GM3WUX Activity seemed down yet again, or conditions weren't very good. GM3YTS Terrible storms here caused lots of Antenna problems GM3ZBE ATU shorted at 1652 and blew amp! Back to the drawing board! GM4AJR Conditions a bit quiet to start with but picked up later. GM4KGK Initial propagation very poor - improved later GM4OBD Typing still needs much improving and must remember to unplug telephone next time!! Enjoyed the contest. GM4SID About 20 less QSOs than usual. Don't know why. Enjoyed the contest GW3EIZ Antenna damaged by windstorms GW3PRL Fuzzy signals to start with soon clearing to make enjoyable contest. M0AJM Slow starting - holiday cobwebs. Worked some excellent ops. Hope to do it again M0AJT Enjoyed the contest. M0BPQ First contest from my new QTH and I got the dreaded knock when I started to call CQ about an hour into the test as RFI was setting a CO detector off. This meant I had several off times as we tried to sort this out. Otherwise not a bad contest. M0BZU I enjoyed myself had a good time M0CZR Noisy band M0DHO Lively and enjoyable contest. Great to see so many regulars and new folks on. M0SSR Thanks to those who were faster than me and slowed down to my level. M0TIF Most enjoyable contest M3CVN Slighly better score then last year. Lots of activity as normal. Nice to be called an Idiot M3 by someone at the end of the contest!!!!!! M3OSP My first solo contest. Enjoyable M3WCK Great learning experience-- thoroughly enjoyed MM0WPM Was very late in getting into contest but very enjoyable
