M0CES
Could not keep the data on freq. Strong sigs kept
pushing me all over the place. Most annoying evening.
Need to read up on this a lot
M0EDY
Good fun on PSK lots more stations to work compared with last year
M0GAV
Tried to get a grip with MixW less than an hour
before the contest(my first attempt at a datamode test)!
M0JQK
My macros need binning HI HI
M0LMH
First time on RTTY, Inv V, IC-7000, 80W
M0MDF
Condx were'nt too bad
M0NKS
lots of stations sending but not listening too quick between
calls!!
M0OXO
First digi test really enjoyed it
M0TFO
First Data contest, just stuck to psk this time.
M1DHV
First time in a data contest, not as easy as you thin. Will be ready
next time
M1PTR
First attempt at doing an RSGB datamode contest. I had better
results with RTTY than PSK31 though it was all Good Fun!
M3DVQ
FT1000D 66 ft end fed wire at 20 feet
Poor score but at least I got on. Only 7 watts because anything more
crashed computer, so much rf flying round shack!
M3TBK
FT1000MP, 10 Watts, dipole at 70 feet
Now big-brother M3DVQ is at Uni at least I get rig every round!
MM0GPZ
Condx up and down the whole time but got markedly better as the test
went on. Inverted L, 100w.
MM0RKT
Only QSO I got first shot was the furthest away - GU6EFB!

PSK and RTTY datamodes are VERY different from modes where the main
processing take place between the ears of a human operator. They are
very fragile - it requires only a single 2ms noise pulse to corrupt a
callsign or a serial number, something which the brain would reject
instantly, or call for a repeat! Any operator who accepts a callsign or
report sent once only is courting disaster.
It is also necessary to ensure that computer sound cards are not
overloaded - this can cause problems with decoding on receive and poor
signal quality on transmit. As the year progresses and band
occupancy increases the Committee will be monitoring this.

SOAPBOX:
2E0LLF
Difficult conditions for inter 'G' working
G0ADH
Much better conditions than last February data.
G0AJJ
Lots of stations, high noise level with much flutter!
G0DAY
Quite a suprise, thought tonight would be like last Monday
but it turned out rather good. Was a struggle with 10w but pleased
G0GFQ
Got home late and just worked the 1 before a damn phone
call
G0JLF
Why did Mix-W have to repeatedly hang??
G0KDS
A bit more fun this week. Antenna only 4m above ground
G0MTN
Looks like activity is still increasing...
G0OKF
Icom 756 PROIII + 50 watts. Antenna = 50 ft wire + SGC tuner.
G0VZQ
Results should improve with practice.
G0WOT
first time on data modes late start due to technical problems!
G3IZD
My first proper entry in the data section
PSK difficult, perhaps conditions, but RTTY
a little better. I must edit my macros for next one
G3KLH
FSK section well supported, PSK section pathetic
G3LHJ
Great activity, much better condx than the last SSB session
G3PDH
At least conditions were better than the week before in the SSB session!
G3PHO
All fingers and thumbs again this time. For some reason, MixW wouldn't
autograb the serial number tonight so I had to type them in for a
change!! Conditions much better than last week's SSB but still not
brilliant. Why do so many on PSK31 insist on sending their name and QTH
in a contest!
The lads on RTTY are much more efficient contesters.
G3RWL
Not quite as bad as the SSB - recommend February CC's are
held on 160m
G3RXP
very poor conditions here along with thick fog.
G3SNU
Very good condx for inter G working
G3SVD
A bit of a disaster. Started fairly well then went down hill.
I need more practice in using Win-Test for RTTY,
that's a
fact.
G3TXF
Finally got set up with some proper RTTY kit. Makes all the difference
in being able to decipher what's going on!
G3VCA
More pleasurable than the first SSB contest. At
least 'G' stations could be heard.
G3VIP
RIG IC7000 - 10W - DIPOLE - Homebrew logger & Hamscope
Plenty of stations, big struggle with QRP.
G3YAJ
Nice to be back with contests
G3YHV
Great contest and good conditions
G3ZBU
condx back to normal!
G3ZGC
Who persuaded me to do this?
G3ZVW
Much better conditions than last week. Propagation perfectly OK.
G4ABX
Escellent contest logging program
G4EBK
Conditions better than expected. Twice as many Q's as last Feb.
G4EZT
Poor conditions, worked nearly all I could hear.
G4FKA
A fair start to the 2008 campaign. Steady rate throughout.
G4RCG
Total washout for me, like watching paint dry
G4ZFE
Better Condx this time. Very crowded at the start and a good test for
my new K3.
G6FOP
terrible QRM from a well know station
GM0ELP
Condx changed throughout, some stns QSB, new stns replacing them.
Mostly inter G tonight no DX.
GW4BLE
Hey! I'm getting to enjoy this RTTY stuff.......
