G4FKA First of the new-style data legs for me. Wasn’t quite sure what to make of it.
G4FQI Who switched the band off halfway through?
G4LWB QRM! Some strong signals. Some EU activity.
G4RCG Good fun. Started slow but then went into a nice
steady pace. All signals were strong – just kept getting clobbered by
adjacent stations.
G4WUG Conditions better this time – a bit slow on PSK though.
G7SKR A
bit late starting. Conditions not bad until around 9pm but only worked
5 in last 30 mins. A few more people on PSK this time.
G7SOZ Good fun chasing other NARC members up and down the band!
GM0ELP All good fun and plenty of activity. Thanks to all who worked me.
GM3SEK Apologies for config trouble at start, then later in the contest I kicked the keyboard lead out of its socket!
GW0ETF Conditions seemed OK, but computer issues here!!
GW4BLE What
a shambles! I missed the first data evening this year (just ahead of
which I had thought everything was running fine software-wise) but this
time, at the very last minute, everything fell apart and I ended up
with Writelog (for RTTY) and a combination of DX4WIN plus pen and paper
for PSK contacts. It can only get better for next month – I hope!
GW4BVE Conditions
much better than January event. Much less noise. UK propagation went
in the last 20 minutes or so. My 2nd data contest and I’m trying hard
to improve my operating techniques. Please be patient!
M0AAA My best score so far in the data. Hard work with the FT817 and 5 watts, but great fun!
M0AEU Need more practice!
M0CES OK1DIG was a very loud signal.
M0CNP Got in a muddle several times with skip changing so hope I’ve allocated the right serial numbers to the right callsigns!
M0DCD Better than last time mixed modes, and enjoyed it more. Even had cooling fan running for first time on FT950.
M0KTM Band died at 2100.
M0LCC First ever data contest.
M0NKS Lots
of noise at the lower part of PSK band almost seemed deliberate at
first. Upper part of the rest of the band was unusable from this
location.
M0VBY Great fun – as always!
M0WTG Much better contest. Happy with that!
M3VKL Fun as always.
M6JOE First data contest entered.
OK1DIG Very
nice contest. I was impressed by the high level of activity of UK
stations on RTTY. I hope my checklog helps. 73 and thanks for a nice
RTTY evening.
PA0MIR Nice to have not forgotten
this time. Sadly enough I had to put the PS for mode [in the log] by
hand so lucky I did not switch modes too often, HI. Anyway, hoped to
be back again next month but I see it is again our monthly club meeting
so sorry, not home early enough I fear.

Note from the adjudicator: Some
operators will notice that their callsigns are missing from the list or
that they have lost a substantial proportion of their claimed
score. This is because they did not specify the Mode (ie PS or
RY) for each contact. Without this information adjudication is
not possible.
SOAPBOX:
2E0RFS Seemed like some were getting good results. I did not seem to be getting out
2E0TQR My first attempt at RTTY/Contest and things did not go right – will do better next time.
2E0ZWW Just giving a few points away.
G8NRP Problems with antenna.
G0DAY Not sure what to expect, but for just 10W and a much bent doublet I think I did well.
G0DWV Getting
the PC and software to work was interesting, but to have it play up and
stop woring when changing modes was a pain! At least band condx
were better than last week.
G0GDU Long skip good for DX but not much use for inter-G working. Only G stations I managed to work were at least 20dB over 9!
G0GFQ Big signals but they couldn’t hear me!!
G0IBN First RTTY – done on rig only – no computer control yet.
G0JLF Better than last time!
G0KYA Hard work. Long skip and program problems – oh dear!
G0LGJ/M Operated from car park with vertical mobile antenna. Cold and wet!
G0RPM Great fun in my first CC digimode contest. RTTY was great – PSK31 disappointing.
G0SIQ It was a quiet night.
G0TZZ Not
sure about PSK for a contest mode. Drying paint springs to mind,
especially when it is so busy with European stations having QSOs.
Also, why send me your locator, name, address and the time you have
your breakfast in a contest? Pse keep it to the contest info
only. I nearly fell asleep with one QSO, it took so long! PS – CU
all next week.
G1VDP Got the regular
keyer with 30 mins to go and lost my Q rate. I then moved
frequency and someone decided to start up 10 mins after I got on there
slightly (about 10Hz) up drowning any callers that were below S9.
He was having the same problem as me but insisted it was me who started
up after him. Bad operating practice!
G2YL Poor conditions again in North Yorkshire.
G3HRH Technical
problems after 6 QSOs. Distorted tones which were not apparent
until reported. Apologies to anyone who was inconvenienced.
G3KAF Problems with log & lap-top freezing!
G3LDI Propagation better, but still poor for this area.
G3LHJ Very
enjoyable hour & half on RTTY. Condx good, lots of activity
but still lots of holes to run. CU in the next one.
G3PHO Once
again lousy propagation all night. Heard few strong Gs and they
faded out after 2100z. It was disturbing to see OK1DIG work many
well-known UK calls that I could not even detect! Roll on March!
G3RXQ First data contest – must try harder ..
G3SNU A struggle using PSK and RTTY in such a short contest. I think the new rules a good idea, though.
G3SVD Another
difficult datamode contest. It seems that, especially on PSK but
also to some extent on RTTY, my TX and RX frequencies were slightly
different.
G3SWC First time on PSK mode but little activity.
G3TKF I
think I ended up at some point on the same frequency as Nigel G3TXF –
just had the impression we were working the same stations for 20mins or
so!
G3TLH Conditions a bit better
than January. Sent RTTY on my paddle key using K3 CW-to-Data
translation with FSK RTTY and no computer, except for logging.
This is now my preferred way of operating data modes. Not too
different from my usual CW operation.
G3TXF This time stuck to RTTY only, but obviously a balanced PSK-RTTY approach is needed to do well in this contest.
G3UJE Disastrous
lead-in to contest with audio problems resulted in my missing the first
30 minutes. Problems then with PSK. Roll on SSB/CW tests.
G3VCA More contacts this time but I must get PSK31 working. The band in a better shape than the last data contest.
G3VDB Left the switch from PSK to RTTY too late to balance the scores as inter-G propagation deteriorated.
G3VIP What a bind on PSK – sooner it’s dropped the better!
G3VQO Decided
to start with 45 minutes of PSK – steady but not busy. Overran my
time slightly due to a sudden increase in callers. Moved to RTTY
about 2100. A few quick QSOs then what I suspect was an
unattended data station came up between my tones. I moved away
but somebody then turned off the propagation. It then became hard
going with just EU and a couple of GMs on what sounded like an
otherwise empty band.
G3YEC Extremely peculiar conditions. One minute quite readable signals – within seconds station gone!
G3YHV Good conditions this evening – tried QRP for the first time.
G3ZBU Very busy. Good conditions, I thought, but very cold.
G3ZGC This
is the first time I have tried PSK. Interesting! Some
stations would not decode! Anyway, conditions good at the start
but poor at the end.
G4ABX Band conditions were poor after the first 45 minutes for inter G working. PSK was a struggle for QRP.
G4EBK Another
poor result from Eastern England. Intended to use PSK as well but
it decided not to play ball. Maybe next time, with any luck.
G4FAL First
outing on RTTY. It’s a bit of a busman’s holiday – using computer
control only, HI. Conditions dropped off in the last half hour.
