SOAPBOX: DK8NT Just _needed_ a nice little contest and so decided to "intrude" on the RSGB territory... As for some others my first sprint! To make things more interesting I used N1MMLogger's ESM mode for the first time (i.e. used only the Enter button for all messages). I had prepared myself very well (or at least thought so) optimized the macros fired up the station (FT-857D with folded windom 30 ft up) - only to find out 20 minutes before the start that the CAT interface had a USB problem. Somehow I fixed it relaxed and looked around on the band only to find out 2 minutes before the start that now the Winkeyer had a USB problem... but somehow I got it running too. Things went not too bad but I had two handicaps (to have fewer competitors ;-) and clearly being a non-RSGB station. I suspect some G-stations ignored me when I called them or even went into hiding because the contest rules seem to say no word if such a contact would be valid. For both reasons calling CQ myself wasn't very successful. Anyway I grit my teeth sticked to QRP surpassed my goal of 20 QSOs and before getting really warmed-up it was over. Fun! G0FYX First time CW sprint. Rewarding and good fun. G0GDU 10w into w3dzz @ 25ft G0IBN very enjoyable sd always a great help G0MTN Popped on to give some points away for the closing minutes. G0SAC Not sure that PEREGRINE was taking this contest as seriously as he should have. I know VLAD certainly wasn't!!!! G0TPH Conditions seemed to switch off at about 19:50. G3GLL Slow going- as usual! G3HRH Quite good conditions with some QSBWhatever happened to the QRS segment G3JRM Nice to hear so many folk on in midweek plus a little activity from Europe love the sprint format which keeps you on your toes. (now if only I could touch type?) G3LHJ not so many on a few of the regulars missing but all good fun cu in the next one 73 Derrick (FNL tried to trip us up with his long name Hi ) G3LIK Some good signals from Scotland. Not so many taking part tonight. Always good to take part. Great to have SD for logging G3OLB Horrible rasping noise covering 80 metres tonight but some strong signals from GM. 10 watts from K3 and dipole at 60ft. G3RHH My first attempt at a CW sprint! G3TLH Thought it would be difficult as could mot hear any G station s before start but then they suddenly all appeared for the contest. Conditions not too bad after all G3TXF Started a bit late, but that didn't make much difference to the problem of running out of new people to work during the last 15 minutes or so! G3ZRJ I hate computers my pc locked up at 15 seconds before the start of the sprint so missed the first five minutes argghhhh. Thanks for all your hard work G4EBK Good start but slowed towards the end. No more stations to work. G4FAL Had to fix a plumbing leak which left me 45 minutes of sprinting. No problems apart from an unorthodox spelling of Graham! G4FNL Where was everyone? Thanks to all for the QSOs. Let's hope we can persuade a few more for next time... G4IRC Great fun. Seemed less activity than usual G4LMW Wedding anniversary seriously curtailed my radio activity (though other activities took an upturn) G4OGB Was very slow tonight. G4RCG What was so good on Telly tonight ??? where was everybody it was very slow all the way through. Condx seemed good just no one on. There was some terible noise higher up the band so kept below 3550. SD was faultless as usual GM3YEH It will take me a few more sprints to master the QSO format. Exchanging names gives these contests a 'nice' feel...very different from the usual cut and thrust. GW0ETF Poor conditions combined with low activity made this hard work! GW3SQX Just half an hour operating from me. Good to see some continentals! M/DL1EFD Thanks to Dave G0LZL for letting me operate from his station. My first entry - big fun. PA3AM Second sprint this year had fun. Looked like less activity than August sprint. 100 Watts G5RV. CUAGN in October! 73' Gerrit |
