Checklog: PA3AAV SOAPBOX: 2E0LMG Propagation was great into France and Netherlands this evening, but not so good for inter-G, it seemed (with an inverted L anyhow)! 2E0RCV Much harder work tonight! G0AAA FT1000MP (100w version) plus dipole at 65ft. Long skip poor for UK but good EU support. G0BNC SKYPE XYL to son won, and I am u/s at contests G0FYX Nice to hear so many continentals joining in. Busy band changing skip condx G0GDU 10W INTO W3DZZ @ 28FT. good conditions at start but struggled as skip lengthened. Running QRP ok until in the middle of QSO was stamped on by a QRO G3 station G0ICJ lots of european station but UK was difficult. Noisy very simple to operate G0MTN 30 minutes of fun. Last 10 QSO Rate stayed high peaking at 107. "Critical mass" of entrants is there - FB! G0OKF Why do I bother. My Antenna is Very Poor. SD use is the only plus point for me. G0UKN Skip v. Long G0VOK Poor propagation and QSB made inter G contacts very difficult. Great fun but must improve my antenna for next year. G1DYN IC-76000 and Windom antenna G3HRH Rather noisy with a lot of non-contest EU QRM. Some slow QSB. Logging with SD as usual thanks to Paul G3LHJ Found it harder going tonight lots of French Boys helping us out also the PA's G3LIK Nice to hear some G7 & G8 calls. Always great to take part G3OLB 5 watts only tonight from my old TS850! Nice to hear continentals joining in. G3SNU Good fun with seven continentials wkd G3TXF Nice to hear a few more French stations taking part. Spent nearly all the time in the lower band 3600-3650. Fun to hear so many familiar callsigns each time. G3VPW Great to hear so many French Stns taking part in the Sprint. Another good fun event. G3ZGC Very noisy here S9 +10 background noise. Rig IC7700 set to 10w to 132 ft wire up 40 ft wrapped into 55 ft garden. G4ABX Difficult copy with all the QRM but great fun! G4FAL It has been a pleasant break from the frequency bagging of the club champs. G4FNL Good news - it's getting busier. Quite a few new callsigns along with the usual suspects in my log. Thanks to everyone for the QSOs. I used an FT1000MP with 80m horizontal loop at approx 35ft high G4LMW Odd conditions. Some stations were way down in the noise at the start then +20db at the end. Others did the opposite! Northern Europe seemed to enjoy the contest. Plenty of F and PA stations. G4NOK good fun G4OGB Least said the better! G4SJX Great fun as usual G6UBM propagation seemed variable G6XRL this is my first ever entry into the contesting world, G7SKR Difficult going with poor propagation G8FCQ Wish had realizd external remote ATU not working. So lashed up an external balan and tuned coax feed from shack Most inelegant and performed poor. GM8OEG What a fun contest this is :-) GW0ETF Seems like more people are coming on now for these contests...pity I can't seem to work them all! Lost 20 minutes to a phone call but it probably wouldn't have made much difference in the end! M0CNP Another challenging evening of erratic propogation M0DCG Band very noisy. Unjoyed using SD in this contest. Need a foot switch M0TUB Rookie!! M0XDX My 1st sprint, very enjoyable! MW0CVT Very heavy QRM MW0MAU Second sprint good fun MW0RZC Poor condx PA0MIR Not too much activity and a lot of noise on this band but managed the 50+ QSO mark in the last minutes. Lucky I discovered this afternoon contacts in the sprint with non-UK stations are valid for us too unlike in the club contests. Always fun to participate and as a longtime RSGB member maybe we non-UK stations should make a club to validate our scores too hi. PA2REH Nice event. Several times more stations replying on my calls so more stations heard than I could work. Next time better. Thanks my friends. |
