(1) The HF Championship is is not a contest in its own right. Rather, it requires participation in a number of HF events during the year, with the results considered together. Participation in the contributing contests is by single operators who must be RSGB members, operating in the UK, In this context, UK is defined in the HF General Rules. The winners will have shown a high level of operating and contesting skill in a variety of contests. (2) Thirteen Contests are included in the HF Championship. An entrant's best six scores count in the results, but at least three of these must be RSGB contests. No entry is necessary; a running score will be tabulated after each qualifying contest. Some of the contests are sponsored by organisations other than the RSGB; in cases where the rules relating to contest operation are different from RSGB rules, those specified by the sponsoring organisation will take precedence. (3) Qualifying Points will be calculated for each contest by considering an entrant's position (P) in the table of the appropriate section, after eliminating non-UK entrants where these are allowed. This is compared with the number of UK entrants in that section (N), and determining Qualifying Points (QP) according to the following formula: QP = (N+1-P)*100/N This means that the winner always receives 100 points, and an entrant halfway down the table (for example) receives 50 points. The maximum score an entrant can achieve, by achieving first place in six qualifying contests, is 600 points. (4) Contests and Sections included in the HF Championship are shown in the table below. In some of them, several entry classes may be combined as a single section for the purpose of calculating Qualifying Points, such as SOE and SOAB in the BARTG contests. (5) Some Contests have several entries in the table, where the Qualifying Points are calculated for a section (or several sections) taken as a unit. For example, in the Commonwealth Contest, there will be three entrants who achieve 100 QPs: the leader of the Open Section (24 hour), the leader of the Restricted Section (24 hour), and the leader of the 12 hour Open and Restricted sections, combined for the purpose of calculating QPs. (6) In the RSGB IOTA Contest, scores by Single Operator and Single Operator Assisted are combined for the calculation of QPs. In sections 8.3, 8.4, 8.5 and 8.6, the scores from the 24 hour and 12 hour classes are combined for the calculation of QPs. (7) Entrants need not operate from the same location for each contest. Entrants must use the callsign allocated to them on their Validation Document, with appropriate Secondary Locator and suffix as appropriate (e.g. GM9XXX, G9XXX/P, GI9XXX, etc.) Exceptionally, Special Contest Callsigns allocated to individuals may be used, but only in contests where such use is permitted by their Notice of Variation, and only by the licensee to whom the callsign has been issued. Special Contest Callsigns allocated to clubs are not eligible for Qualifying Points. (8) The winner of the HF Championship will be the station with the highest number of Qualifying Points at the end of the year, and will be awarded the G2QT Trophy. In the event that there is a tie for first place, non-RSGB contests are eliminated, and the score is recalculated. If there is still a tie, the trophy will be awarded jointly. Certificates of Merit will be awarded to the winner and second placed station. (9) The decisions of the RSGB Contest Committee in relation to the HF Championship contest are final. |
