RSGB Contest Results 2nd 1.8MHz Contest 2012

This year saw an increase in activity from the UK and Europe probably reflecting the rule amendment from last year which allows non-UK participant to score points for non-UK contacts. Sadly the adjudication process indicated some 49 other UK stations participated but did not submit logs, including several high scoring entrants. All logs received help to validate all competitor contact and reflect participants support for these events.

Several stations were surprised to be called by FM5CD, first worked at 2220z. VE1ZZ was the earliest North American station worked at 2129z. No JA stations worked by UK stations this year.

G3TXF returned to this contest after many years and stormed into top place and is rewarded with the Victor Desmond Trophy, UK 2nd and 3rd Place were achieved by G3UJE and GM3POI, the latter affected by the aurora that impacted northern latitudes. GM4AFF wins the Maitland Trophy as the Scottish entrant with the highest aggregate number of points in the February and November 160m events.
